Kea (also known as Tzia) with its 2.5 thousand residents is the closest Cycladic island to Athens. It is linked to Attica via boat from the port of Lavrio, the journey taking only one hour. The terrain of the island with the deep valleys, the main village perched on the top of a hill, the oak tree forests and the lacy coastline with the small beaches give a unique atmosphere to the island.
The nightlife is concentrated in the port, the main village and Vourkari during the summer months and only the port during the winter months. The bars, the cafes and the restaurants are few, but they are good and cosmopolitan. Kea still has the feeling that it is not for the many, but for the ones in the know.
